1997 - Major Flood in Grand Forks. UND ends school year a month early due to massive on campus flooding. Burtness Theatre stays dry except for about 3" of water in the Costume areas. Chandler Hall has no water damage. - Theatre Arts adds new Props and Costume Storage space in Chandler Hall. - The Grapes of Wrath becomes first UND Theatre Arts production to use digital sound for editing and performance. -Dr. Ronald Engle retires. -Dan Plato, Department Chair, leaves UND. -Greg Gillette serves as Acting Chair until July 1998. |

2000 - How I Learned to Drive becomes the second UND Theatre Arts production to be represented in the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. The production is performed in January at Washington Pavillion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. - New ETC Lighting control systems installed in Mainstage. - Doris Bjornseth joins Theatre Arts as Department Secretary. |
